A neighbour that walks with my wife asked me if I knew of any painters.  As a general carpenter, I do get the opportunity to paint.  Three rooms needed a paint job as well as the installation of baseboard in a bedroom closet.

The key with painting is to ensure you take your time with the prep work, making sure it is 100% and the end result is sure to be fabulous!!

The first task was to remove old wall paper….tedious but necessary.  Having the right tools for the job, is key to making this part seamless and efficient.  Next I started fixing the walls and the holes that are bound to be present from picture hanging over time.  Most clients like a fresh wall to begin decorating their newly painted space!!  The installation of the baseboards/trim  was next and it is important to ensure that new baseboards match the existing ones.  Last but definitely not least….. the painting of the ceiling and walls!

Important steps to remember when painting include working top to bottom. Ceiling first, then the walls and finally all the trim (casing, baseboards and doors). In regards to prep work, taking off the switch plates and covers, and protecting hardwood flooring and furniture with drop sheets is an absolute must.  It is interesting to see what paint choices clients choose for a room.  Let the painting begin!

After the painting is completed and the room is transformed into a new colour vision, it is time to clean up and let the client enjoy their bedroom “renovation”.
